Wording, in motion

Works in any app

Works in Mail, Slack, Notion, LinkedIn, X, Asana and most other apps where you can type.

Nothing to set up per app

If you can type in it, Wording works in it.

Selection, or the whole field

Select a sentence. Or select nothing, and Wording takes the whole field.

Your clipboard stays yours

Whatever you had copied is still there afterwards.

01⌥ Tap

Rewrite everywhere.

Select what you wrote and tap Option. The new version lands exactly where the old one was, in about a second.

Meaning stays the same. Only the wording changes.

Example. Before: “hi all, the launch is move to thursday because we need more time for test it, sorry for this”. After: “Hi all, the launch is moving to Thursday. We need a bit more time to test it. Sorry about that.”

02⌥ + Space

Custom instructions.

Want something specific? Press Option and Space, then say it in your own words: shorter, warmer, more formal, simpler.

A small box opens next to your text. Press Return and it’s done.

Example. The request “Warmer, and a bit shorter” turns a stiff apology into: “Hi Priya, I’m so sorry, but I can’t make Friday’s meeting after all. Could we find another time next week?”

03Settings

Custom tone and style.

Friendlier or more professional, more direct or more polite. Set it in Settings and every rewrite follows it, in every app.

Leave it in the middle and Wording keeps your natural tone.

Natural

You wrote: “can u send me the numbers by thursday”

Drag the slider, or tap an end

04Hold ⌥

Voice dictation.

Hold Option, speak, and your words land right where you were typing, clean and rewritten. It picks up on 25 languages and handles them automatically.

Speech is turned into text on your Mac. Any language you speak.

Example. You say: “um so the deck is is on the drive now and I I also added the notes from the review”. What lands: “The deck is on the drive now. I also added the notes from the review.”

Illustration. No microphone is used.

05/assistant

Writing assistant.

Type /assistant in the box and describe what you need. Wording writes a first draft. It shows it to you and copies it, so you paste it only where you want it.

Selected text rides along as context, like the email you’re replying to.

Example. Request: “Reply to Daniel: Tuesday works, suggest 10am”. Draft: “Hi Daniel, Tuesday works well for me. Would 10am suit you? Best, Marco”. It is shown and copied, not pasted.

06/translate

Write in yours. Translate in theirs.

Type /translate and a language, or pick a default in Settings. The translation replaces your text, right in the app.

Works with dictation too: say it in Italian, get it in English.

Example. Giulia asks in English: “Hi! When will the numbers be ready?” You write your reply in Italian: “I numeri saranno pronti domani mattina. Te li mando appena arrivo.” It becomes, in English: “The numbers will be ready tomorrow morning. I’ll send them to you first thing.”

Questions

The short answers.

What does Wording do?

It rewrites text right where you typed it, in any app on your Mac. Select some text, or nothing to take the whole field, and tap Option. The new version replaces the old one. No chat window, nothing to paste.

Which apps does it work in?

Almost anywhere you can type: Mail, Slack, Notion, LinkedIn and X in your browser, Google Docs, and most other apps. If an app won’t let Wording put the new version back, you’ll see it in the box so you can copy it.

Will it change what I mean?

No. Wording keeps your meaning, including how sure or strong a statement is. It changes the wording, not the message.

What’s the difference between Standard and Plus?

Both are fast and both are included. Standard is made for everyday writing. Plus takes more care with nuance and tone, and uses about 4× your allowance per rewrite.

What happens to my text?

Your rewrite history is saved only on your Mac. You choose how long to keep it, and you can pause or clear it at any time. To create a rewrite, your text is processed by third-party AI providers.

What do I need?

macOS 14 or later. Wording asks for Accessibility access so it can read your selection and put the result back. It asks for the microphone only if you use voice.

Your next message, only better.
